The Gates Cambridge Scholarships rank among the most esteemed international scholarships globally. These scholarships are bestowed upon exceptional candidates from non-UK countries, enabling them to undertake full-time postgraduate studies across various disciplines at the renowned University of Cambridge.

Courses INELIGIBLE for Gates Cambridge Scholarships:

• Any Undergraduate degree like BA (undergraduate) or BA affiliated (a second BA) • Business Doctorate (BusD) • Master of Business (MBA) • Master of Finance (MFin) • MASt courses • PGCE • MBBChir Clinical Studies • MD Doctor of Medicine degree (6 years, part-time) • Graduate Course in Medicine (A101) • Part-time degrees • Non-degree courses

Number of Awards: Approximately 80 scholarships are granted annually.

Target Group: Individuals from any country outside the United Kingdom.

Scholarship Value/Inclusions: A Gates Cambridge Scholarship encompasses the complete cost of pursuing studies at Cambridge, including tuition fees, a maintenance allowance (£20,000 for 12 months at the 2023-24 rate; pro rata for courses shorter than 12 months) – for PhD scholars, the award covers up to 4 years, one economy single airfare at the start and conclusion of the program, and expenses related to inbound visa and the Immigration Health Surcharge.

Additionally, it offers supplementary discretionary funding for academic development, family support, fieldwork, etc.

Eligibility: You qualify for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship if you are:

• A citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom. • Applying for full-time residential courses of study, including PhD (full-time or part-time*), MSc or MLitt (full-time), or a one-year full-time postgraduate course, with exceptions as listed above.

For the October 2024 intake, Gates Cambridge is experimenting with a scheme allowing applicants to seek funding for a part-time doctoral degree.

Application Instructions: Applications commence on September 4, 2023.

Applicants must submit their application for admission and funding (Gates Cambridge and other funding opportunities) via the University’s Graduate Application Portal. To be eligible for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship, you must complete both the admission application for your chosen course and College placement, as well as the Gates Cambridge segment of the funding application.

There are two distinct Gates Cambridge application deadlines: October 11, 2023 (for US citizens residing in the USA) and either December 5, 2023, or January 4, 2024, depending on the course (for all other eligible applicants).
